A 23-year-old Arab woman committed a suicide by hanging herself after family pressure forced her Saudi husband to divorce her, a newspaper said on Thursday.
The newly-married couple in the Western Saudi town of Makkah loved each other but both families had objected to their marriage, Sabq Arabic language daily said.
“After great pressure, the husband divorced his wife, who later started to suffer from depression…she fled to another city but police brought her back to her family’s house, where she hanged herself by the ceiling fan,” the report said.
