Backlash threatens foreign retailers in India

A growing backlash threatens to derail the Indian government's decision to give foreign retailers greater access to India.

New rules announced last week would allow big retailers like Wal-Mart to set up supermarkets in India's major cities and will likely attract companies like Swedish retailer Ikea.

States have the power to ban the entry of foreign retailers. Five state leaders have come out against the rules.

Opponents of the changes say they will put millions of small traders out of business.
