Conman who cheated 15 persons bailed out
A suspect who was charged for cheating 15 persons to the tune of Rs4.5 million by promising employment in France was released on Rs80,000 cash and Rs2.4 million surety bail by Kesbewa Magistrate and District Judge Chamath Madanayake.
“The Island” reported that the suspect was of Kahatuduwa area, close to Colombo and he was granted bail having charged in courts in respect of nine out of fifteen cases while granting 25 sureties.
The judge released the suspect on cash bail of Rs15,000 and surety bail of Rs300,000 each for the first, second and third cases.
Rs10,000 cash and three sureties of Rs300,000 for the fourth and two sureties of Rs100,000 for the fifth case filed against him.
He was ordered to provide two sureties of Rs200,000 each for the sixth case and three sureties of Rs300,000 each for the seventh case.
For the eighth and ninth cases he was ordered to pay Rs10,000 and Rs15,000 cash bail each and sureties of Rs300,000 each.
