A Dubai-based property broker was thrashed and robbed by two eunuchs in Mumbai this Friday when the victim offered them a lift when he was returning home after a night of drunken revelry, Indian newspapers reported.

The 26-year old Rahul Seth from Andheri, Mumbai was holidaying in India when the kind-hearted gesture cost him dearly. The miscreants who entered his apartment in the pretext of using the bathroom threatened Seth at knifepoint, punched him under the eyes and fled with Rs. 15,000 (approx: Dh1046) and a ring worth Rs. 60,000 (approx: Dh4186), which the victim apparently bought in Dubai, Mid-day reported.

Sub-inspector Prakash Oswal of Versova police station told Emirates 24/7 over the phone that  the complainant was heavily drunk when he came to the police station, and hence they were hesitant to believe him. A non-cognizable complaint has been filed and police is investigating the matter, Oswal said.  “The investigation is on and we are tracking people who have criminal records in area between Andheri and Bandra,” the inspector said.

In his complaint to the Verosova Police station, Seth claimed that he was returning home on Friday after a late night party in Bandra. He took an auto to his Horizon View residence in Seven Bungalows in Andheri. On his way, he spotted the two women who were desperately waving for a lift. His charitable instincts did not let him ignore their request at that wee hour, and he unhesitatingly shared the ride with them.

“I had returned from Dubai a month ago, and I have never heard of such incidents of looting in the city. I saw these two simply dressed women standing in the middle of the road waving for a lift. If I had known that this is a charade to mug people, I would never have made the mistake of offering help,” said Seth.

As per Rahul’s account, the women who he only later recognised as eunuchs, got off with him from the auto, and pleaded to enter his house to use the toilet and have a drink of water. The eunuchs then manhandled their host, and fled with valuables worth Rs. 75,000 as he lay unconscious on the floor.
