Father molests teenage daughter, arrested

Police has arrested a father of three children for raping his own 12-year-old daughter.

A complaint lodged with the Piliyandala police station claimed that the 38-year-old father has been raping the daughter for the past one-and-half-years, Sri Lanka’s ‘Mawbima’ reported.

Piliyandala police said the victim, unable to bear her father’s harassments, related her ordeal to a class-teacher, who filed a complaint to the police.

Investigations revealed that the suspect, a labourer, used to come home drunk every day and raped the teenage girl – the eldest of the three children.

The suspect was remanded after being produced before Kesbewa court while the victim was hospitalised.

Police said investigation is still on.
