'Teacher of the Year' raped student for years

An elementary school teacher has been charged with three counts of child rape, Kirotv.com reported.

According to the report, police said she had sex with a student who lived at her home.

Darcy M. Smith, 41, is accused of having sex with the boy when he was 14, and she continued to have sex with him until he was 18.

The boy, now 19, told police about the abuse and in a probe since, it has emerged that Smith was allegedly having sex with her student when she was named regional Teacher of the Year in 2012.
