Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), today signed contracts with Power Magic Electrical Works LLC and Gulf Sands Contracting LLC, to complete low voltage cable-laying works within one week of receiving requests made by Dewa’s relevant departments.

The contracts accord with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to ensure the highest standards of excellence. Through such agreements, Dewa aims to strengthen the electricity infrastructure of Dubai.

“To support the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, we had implemented enhancement programmes and projects to position ourselves in first place in the Doing Business report by the World Bank. We are committed to further enhancing our ranking globally and achieve first place. To achieve this, we were ranked in fourth place globally out of 186 countries and first in the Middle East and North Africa. We are investing in further strengthening our infrastructure, which also reflects our goal to be a sustainable world-class utility. We will submit reports of the new enhancements to the World Bank for their consideration in the new ranking,” said Tayer.

Dewa has implemented the ‘One Window’ system to strengthen ease of access to electricity and reduce the number of procedures for consultants and contractors. Dewa consistently conducts customer satisfaction surveys to further improve its services.

“The agreements will contribute to enhancing the efficiency of our services and maximise customer satisfaction. They will also enable us to complete field works and new connections easily and efficiently. This will help us to enhance our ranking globally and achieve first place,” said Rashid Humaidan, EVP of Power Distribution.
