Emirates Islamic Bank has ruled out any new credit card fraud cases or any breach of its card system.
The bank has sent SMSs to its clients saying that it had blocked card usage in Russia and Italy for security reasons.
"There is no breach of our electronic transaction system. EIB card transactions were blocked several months ago in many countries due to the fraud case, which took place last September," said Kareem Elsayed, EIB Communications manager.
"Card transactions in Russia and Italy are still blocked since that time until we ensure the security of transactions in the two countries.
"The new SMS is just a reminder for our clients for their satisfaction to enable them to avoid any hardships when visiting the two countries," he added.
He said EIB's business was going as usual and the SMS was part of the bank's commitment to keep its clients informed.
