Around 20 buyers interested in GM’s Swedish unit Saab

Guy Lofalk is in charge of the reconstruction of the troubled General Motors unit. He says a sale of Saab is a “crucial prerequisite for a successful reconstruction”.

In a document presented in court on Monday, he said that so far “a short presentation of Saab has been sent out and extensive contacts have occurred with interested parties”.

Saab’s chief executive Jan Ake Jonsson told Swedish news agency TT that the interested parties, from Sweden and abroad, include industrial firms and investment companies.

Lofalk also said Saab plans to start negotiations with creditors in June to write down all non-prioritised debt by around 75 per cent.
