The Professional Courier (TPC), a Mumbai-based delivery and logistics firm, is to commence operations in the Middle East through a regional hub in Dubai.

The company, which handles 2.5 million shipments per day, plans to open branches in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other emirates, said Chairman PM Abraham.

TPC plans to set up an office in London later this year and recently opened its Southeast Asian headquarters in Singapore as well as a branch in New York. Other major Indian courier firms such as First Flight are already active in the Middle East and the booming cargo business between the UAE and India will get a boost from the completion of DP World's Vallarpadam container terminal at Kochi in South India.

TPC Managing Director Thomas John told Emirates Business: "We started global operations in 1999 and have been conducting business in GCC through partners. We now have offices around the world serving more than 25,000 destinations."
