Dubai International Airport's Concourse Three is on track to open its gates at the end of 2012, according to Dubai Airports' Chief Executive Officer, Paul Griffiths.

"A part of the Terminal Three complex, upon completion, C3 will become the world's first Airbus A380-dedicated facility of its size.

"Designed for the exclusive use of Emirates, it will increase the airport's total capacity from the current 60 million passengers per annum to 75 million passengers," he told Emirates Business.

Although C3 will be similar to Concourse Two in terms of appearance, it would have a smaller footprint – it will be 90 metres wide and 645 metres long, with a total built-up area of 528,000 square metres.
