December exports by Dubai Chamber members reached Dh18.5 billion, up from the November figures of Dh15.4 billion and was 23 per cent higher than the previous two years.
Hamad Buamim, Director-General, Dubai Chamber said last month's exports were also the highest in the year. "This is a clear signal to investors that the exports sector has almost recovered from the effects of the global financial downturn," he said. "The higher exports figures for Dubai are an indication of the positive outlook for 2010 as the exports sector can look forward to a better trading year this time round."
Dubai's commitment to support the business community is evident from the latest decree exempting fines on late renewal of trade licences, as well as the earlier decree on 20 per cent to 30 per cent reduction in government services fees, he said.
