Etihad Crystal Cargo, a division of Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways, moved almost 218,000 tonnes of cargo last year, up 12 per cent over 2008, a company statement quoting Des Vertannes, Executive Vice-President of Etihad Crystal Cargo, said.

"We plan to further boost shipments to key air cargo markets in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East in 2010, and take delivery of our first A330 freighter aircraft in the second half of the year, which will increase Etihad's cargo tonnage by 24 per cent," he said.

Etihad Crystal Cargo is also showcasing its services and latest developments at this year's Air Cargo Exhibition in Mumbai, starting today, the statement said.

Participation in the cargo exhibition would enable Etihad to strengthen its brand in India, one of the fastest growing air cargo markets, where Etihad Crystal Cargo has already gained momentum through its operation of freighter charter services, Vertannes said.

"We have very ambitious targets for 2010 and are committed to enhancing capacity, service and network for our customers," he said.
