Swiss WorldCargo, the cargo division of Swiss International Air Lines Ltd, has officially gone live with Swiss Worx, a customised version of the comprehensive end-to-end IT cargo management system SkyChain developed by Mercator, the Dubai-based business technology provider.

The move follows Swiss WordCargo's need to upgrade its cargo management systems to enhance efficiency and respond to client demands for flexibility. Using the latest Java technology, Swiss Worx substantially meets flexibility demands in cargo management and improves business efficiencies across the air-freight life cycle.

Swiss WorldCargo was the first to take advantage of the new system when it was made available to international players.

"The new system is the biggest IT project in our history and will help us migrate from the old ways of doing things at Swiss," said Swiss' Chief Cargo Officer Oliver Evans. "With Swiss Worx, we have seized the opportunity to improve efficiency, raise quality and to streamline our processes for today's needs. Moreover we will be ready for all future changes and enhancements as the industry adapts to new challenges and the necessity to provide ever increasing value."
