Maersk set to raise rate from February 15

Maersk Line has announced a general rate increase effective February 15 in the Europe to South Asia and Middle East trade, a company statement said.

The trading conditions for the carriers operating in these markets are still subject to unacceptable rate levels and the situation is unsustainable in the longer term, the statement said.

The rate increase is necessary to continue to operate our services with the high level of reliability our customers have come to expect from Maersk Line, it said, adding. the increase is $100 (Dh367) per 20-foot and $200 per 40-foot, and is applicable to dry commodities, it said.
