Ministry to get hybrid cars this year

A group of environmental friendly hybrid cars will be introduced in the vehicle fleet of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs this year as part of its commitment to best practices on sustainable conservation and protection of environment, the Ministry has announced.

The move is in line with directives of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, for creating a safe, clean and attractive environment measuring up to the reputation and standing of the UAE globally. The Protocol Department will take delivery of a number of these cars fitted with state-of-the-art environmental friendly systems to use them in presidential missions such as transportation of VIPs and high profile state visitors.

The move is also synchronised with another initiative by the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court. The policy aims to save lives and properties, preserve environment and natural resources, improve occupational health and safety (OHS) standards as well as apply modern technology to reduce noise by vehiles.
