The Licensing Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will begin standardising driving training programmes at the five driving institutes in Dubai, the authority has said.

It will be done through its Driver Training and Qualification Department at the five driving institutes in Dubai – Belhasa Driving Institute, Emirates Driving Institute, Dubai Driving Centre, Al Ahli Driving Centre and Galadari Motor Driving Centre.

Ahmed Hashem Bahro?uzyan, CEO of the RTA's Licensing Agency, said the department was in the process of designing the first training syllabus for drivers of cars, buses, trucks and motorcycles.

The syllabus will clearly underline the skills and processes that would be tackled in training drivers at the five driving institutes. He said the syllabus was intended to support these institutes, driving instructors and students in both theoretical and practical classes.

Bahrouzyan said the syllabus was a model based on global best practices.

"The objective of a standardised syllabus is to improve the safety and conduct of new drivers."
