Topaz Energy and Marine subsidiary Adyard Abu Dhabi has completed the construction of Berth 6 LNG Loading module for Qatargas. One of the key highlights of the project was the safe completion of 500,000 man hours without a lost time injury (LTI), said the company.

The $17 million (Dh62.4m) project was awarded to Adyard by Fluor as a construction contract in January last year. The project included the company undertaking detail engineering, fabrication and construction of module structures including installation of LNG tank, pumps and pipelines.

The scope of work included electrical and instrumentation work, cold insulation of pipelines and Epoxy fire proofing of the module. The module will be transported to, and installed at the Ras Laffan Qatar Site in the first and second week of April.

Qatargas is in the process of developing an integrated LNG storage and loading facility at Ras Laffan Industrial City on the North-East coast of Qatar.

"This project success once again underscores Topaz's ability of successfully and safely delivering large-scale engineering projects," said Fazel A Fazelbhoy, CEO of Topaz Energy and Marine.

Adyard will in 2009 operate as a key part of Topaz Engineering, the newly-formed engineering division of Topaz Energy and Marine. Topaz Engineering operates through four strategic business units – Topaz Fabrication and Construction, Topaz Marine Repair, Topaz Ship Building and Topaz Maintenance Services.

Through Topaz Engineering, Adyard hopes to leverage the great financial resources of Topaz and the resources and capabilities of its sister companies to grow further in all areas of operation.

Topaz gives size and scale, and immediate possibilities to expand Adyard's client base in new markets.

"The clients of Topaz engineering division will benefit from extremely cost-efficient operations, an unrelenting focus on HSE, wide-ranging capabilities, decades of experience and an unparalleled geographical reach," said the company. Topaz Energy and Marine Ltd is among the world's leading marine services and oil and gas fabrication companies with more than 35 years of experience in the Middle East.

Topaz is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Renaissance Services SAOG, a publicly-traded company on the Muscat Securities Market.
