Abu Dhabi airport seeks EOI for terminal building

The Supervision Committee for the Expansion of the Abu Dhabi International Airport has invited expression of interest (EOI) from general contractors in the prequalification for the Midfield Terminal Building construction by February 1.

The building will serve as the base of operations for Etihad Airways, the national carrier, and will have a built up area of 630,000 sqm. It will initially have the capacity to serve in excess of 20 million passengers annually. The Midfield Terminal Complex, of which the Midfield Terminal building is a part, will also include a multi-story car park and landside and airside developments.

Applicants, either solely or in joint venture, must have a minimum turnover of $5 billion (Dh18.35bn) per year and successfully completed five projects of a similar complex nature during the past 10 years, two of which must be valued in excess of $1bn. They must have the ability to provide guarantees, securities, bonds and evidence of financial strength proportionate to the size of the

project and have a proven implementation of a standard operating procedures consistent with globally recognised sustainability best practices.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a detailed prequalification questionnaire, which should be submitted with a bankers non-refundable cheque for Dh 50,000 payable to The Supervision Committee for the expansion of the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
