Ninety per cent of respondents admitted the excitement of the tower's opening and said it is a source of pride for Dubai and the UAE, according to the online Omnibus survey conducted between January 5 and 11.

Seventy two per cent of the 811 respondents said they watched the inauguration of Burj Khalifa on television. And 54 per cent acknowledged the ceremony exceeded their expectations with 36 per cent indicated that it "far exceeded" their expectations.

Twelve per cent viewed it in proximity to the Burj- Downtown Dubai or Dubai Mall areas.

Burj Khalifa was opened by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on January 4.

"The renaming of Burj Dubai to Burj Khalifa has not impacted resident's sense of pride towards the building. The fact it was seen by millions around the world has meant the majority of people across all emirates are unified in their recognition of it as an achievement," said Joanna Longworth, Chief Marketing Officer of YouGov Siraj.
