Chapal Group plans to start tendering for its Jumeirah South Village project soon, said Executive Director Jawad Chapal.

"We are at the detailed design stage and will look at tendering in a month's time," he told Emirates Business. NEB are the architects for the project.

Meanwhile, the developer has signed a Dh367 million contract for its Chapal The Destiny project at Dubai Sports City with the Ranya Group, which has extensive experience in architecture and construction.

"The piling work on Chapal The Destiny is finished and Ranya will take over the main contracting for the project," added Chapal.

"The construction schedule has been planned to ensure handover of the project in December 2009. "We are committed to pleasing our customers by delivering on schedule. We are confident of working with Ranya because they demonstrated their ability to work according to our precise specifications and guidelines."

Chapal admitted the industry was facing project delays but said most were caused by the escalating cost of raw materials and changes in the law that resulted in revised deadlines.

"Though we were prepared for cost escalation the prices of raw materials have risen beyond expectations. A few months ago Dubai Municipality made some changes in piling laws and these have added to our costs and affected the timing of our projects. Of course this is all part of the business."

Chapal The Destiny is being built on 913,000 sq ft site and will consist of two towers and a 26-storey residential building. Chapal's landmark properties in Dubai and Ajman are worth Dh20 billion.
