Emirates Industrial Cities (EIC) has awarded a contract worth Dh400 million to a local company to start construction of the first phase of Warehouses City, announced Al Hanoo, main developers of the Dh5 billion project.

According to the contract, the company will be responsible for the construction and development of Warehouses City, located within District 8 of the EIC project.

Sheik Abdullah bin Fahid Al Shakrah, Chairman of Al Hanoo Holding and EIC, said: "Al Hanoo is committed to implementing technical policies and industrial safety procedures of the highest standard to guarantee the safety of the individuals, goods and storage places in EIC.

The safety measures for Warehouses City include fire fighting systems and water sprinklers adopted by the Civil Defence Department, in addition to multiple entries and exits within the project site. The design for all warehouses also incorporates thermal isolation technology.

Phase one of the development works of EIC, currently at 50%, is expected to be completed in Q4 of 2009.
