Entrants to be vetted for new Dubai contest

Architects registering for a contest to design a landmark structure, symbolising the new face of Dubai, will face checks regarding their qualifications, according to a Dubai Municipality official.

"The official information will be announced at end-September, when the registration information is completed," said Roxy Binno, municipality's urban design expert. "So far 959 teams from 88 nations have registered, while 31 teams from Dubai have submitted registrations." The registration deadline is August 31. The contest has been launched by the municipality and lifts ThyssenKrupp Elevator.
