Oman Air yesterday signed a letter of intent to buy two new cabin crew safety trainers for $2.6 million (Dh9.54m) from Dubai-based manufacturer Spatial Composite Solutions.

The contract will be finalised and signed within a week, according to a Spatial official. The firm will design and build Airbus A330-300 and Boeing 737 NG emergency evacuation trainers that will be installed at Oman Air's new crew training facility at Muscat International Airport.

"The devices will be equipped with the latest crew training technology and will provide our growing team of cabin staff with the best environment in which to hone their safety skills," Oman Air CEO Peter Hill said while attending Aviation Week in Dubai. "We look forward to receiving our new trainers, including the flagship A330-300 one, later this year."
