Dubai's Emaar Properties and Japan's Sega Sammy Holdings Inc said they agreed to develop indoor theme parks as part of the Gulf company's $4 billion drive to build shopping malls in the Arab world.

The first facility with Sega Sammy unit Sega Corp will be in Emaar's Dubai Mall in the emirate, and offer an indoor roller coaster, ride simulators and selection of games, Emaar unit Emaar Malls Group said in a statement. It did not give a value for the agreement.

Emaar Malls, a unit of the largest Arab property developer, is looking to develop shopping facilities in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.

"These innovative shoppertainment concepts further position Emaar Malls Group as a global provider of retail and entertainment destinations," Emaar Malls Chief Executive Officer Rashid Doleh said in the statement.

The Dubai Mall, part of a complex that includes the Burj Dubai -- the world's tallest building, will open in the second-half of this year, according to the group. Emaar is also building two other malls in Dubai, and plans to develop one in Egypt.
