The Health Authority – Abu Dhabi (Haad) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) to improve information security standards and practices and protect IT infrastructure against cyber crime.

As per the MoU terms, the TRA's Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) will provide Haad with guidance, education and increase awareness of risks from breaches in internet security. It will also advise on communication systems, information security and control, responses to emergencies and crises and research and analysis on information security.

"Better control over elements of information security and protection of our database is among the most important priorities for Haad," said CEO Zaid Al Siksek. "With the help of aeCERT we will guarantee our business continuity and information security. This MoU fulfils our commitment to Abu Dhabi Government's information security initiative.

TRA Director-General Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim said: "This MoU will allow Haad to benefit from aeCERT services in guidance, education and awareness, research and analysis of current situations and future threats related to cyber security."

The MoU was signed during the International Security National Resilience conference yesterday.
