4-year-old receives kidney from dad

Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) has performed the sixth kidney transplant successfully on a child in the UAE.

Four-year-old Mohammed Saleh, who suffered a kidney failure following complications after a traffic accident, was donated a kidney by his father, reported 'Al Khaleej' newspaper.

Dr Abrar Khan, Senior Consultant and Head of transplant surgery and liver and bile ducts, SKMC, said this is the youngest child child to receive a transplant in the UAE.

Saleh met with an accident when he was two-and-a-half-years old. It was decided to postpone the transplant until he received all his vaccinations.

The operation conducted on Januray 6, lasted four hours.
