Experts discuss findings on pandemics

A conference on pandemics held yesterday at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) drew global health experts to discuss the spread of international pandemics.

Titled Global Health and the UAE: Asia-Middle East Connections, the conference saw leading healthcare professionals and academics discussing the latest research findings on the spread and control of pandemic diseases.

Guest speakers included Dr Vittoria Colizza from the Institute of Scientific Interchange, whose work has changed the way pandemics are now monitored, and Dr Cliff Webster, Chief Medical Advisor, Emirates airline.

Dr Abdullah Al Khanbashi, Vice-Chancellor of UAEU, said: "We are delighted to bring this topic to the fore and facilitate the exchange of the latest research in this field."
