Closing schools due to the H1N1 virus is a very unlikely scenario, but if deemed necessary the Health Authority-Abu Dhabi (Haad) has developed a phased management plan in conjunction with Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec).

"The plan includes remote teaching and learning components," said Zaid Al Siksek, CEO of Haad, in a statement.

Haad has said the comprehensive H1N1 action plan and protocols are now in place with Adec to prepare school staff, management and parents for the new school year.

"Following extensive consultation with Adec, we have developed a comprehensive management plan to deal with the H1N1 threat. The protocols give a step-by-step description of all actions to be taken by school management, teachers, pupils, school nurses and parents," said Siksek.
