Accountancy firm Ernst & Young said it has completed a globalisation move that has integrated its European, Middle East, African and Indian national partnerships into a single brand.

The new $11 billion (Dh40.3bn) company employs about 60,000 people and 3,300 partners. It will be led by Mark Otty, present head of the United Kingdom, Northern Europe and India. The change will be effective from July 1, the accountancy firm said.

"Our people want to be in an organisation where their opportunities are without boundaries," said Chairman and CEO Jim Turley. "They want and expect mobility, challenging international assignments and a diverse and teaming culture on a truly global scale."

All but one of the 87 countries in Europe, Middle East, Africa and India accepted the change into a single brand.

Sweden will vote on whether to integrate in the enlarged firm in the coming months.

In Sweden, "our partners are facing local issues", the firm said.

The United States, Asia, Australasia and Japan still operate as separate firms, a company spokesman said.
