Majid Ateeq Hareb, a student of Higher Colleges of Technology, designed the award-winning logo for Leadership Development Competency Programme for the Road and Transport Authority (RTA).
The winning entry was selected in a nationwide competition between university and college students launched by the RTA three months ago.
Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of RTA Corporate Support Services Sector, honoured Hareb and awarded him a Certificate of Appreciation along with the prize money amounting to Dh10,000.
Kawthar Kazim, Director of Human Resources and Development Department at RTA Corporate Support Services Sector, said the RTA launched a campaign through newspapers inviting students to design the logo for Leadership Development Competency Programme.
The contest saw huge participation from universities and colleges across the UAE, with 250 men and women students participating.
"The RTA had set up a special panel for this competition, with members selected from the human resources and development department of the RTA. The panel short-listed the best candidates and referred the list to the chairman of the board and executive director of the RTA for selecting and awarding the winner," said Kawthar.
She said: "The RTA had strict rules governing the competition. The guidelines, which were published in newspapers, stipulated that the participant should be a university or college student in the UAE, each participant must submit only one design and it should be inspired by the name of the programme.
"Other conditions included that the design must be new and had never been submitted to any other competition. The terms also included a brief explanation of the logo concept, the name of the participant as well as the name of the institution to which he or she is affiliated.
"The programme aims to motivate the RTA employees, motivates them to enhance their technical abilities and empowers them to scale the job ladder.
