Sherezade Films (SF), a Middle Eastern entertainment company, Kuwait Cable Vision (KVision), a Kuwait based full media services company and Desert Door Productions, a Dubai-based Film and TV production company have joined forces with the aim of making Sherezade Films a key player in the western independent film industry.

SF has, since early 2006, co-financed and co-produced 12 first-class Hollywood feature films, such as Smart People, starring Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker, The Lucky Ones with Tim Robbins and Rachel McAdams, and New York I Love You, with notable stars including Orlando Bloom and Nathalie Portmann.

Both KVision and Desert Door Productions have invested significantly in SF and, together, they have become a major shareholder in the company.

The additional capital funds will be allocated toward new western film productions, acquisitions of a film animation and distribution company.

Mohammed Kateeb, CEO of KVision and General Manager of Desert Door Productions, said: "We at KVision are focused on addressing the full digital media cycle from creation to distribution. Creation of content is an important part of this cycle and today international entertainment and specially western content represent great percentage of media being delivered to the Middle East audience. We would like to have access, influence and input into this content. We feel SF has been very successful in creating good films that are in line with our vision. This partnership is a good vehicle to achieve our vision."

"On the Desert Door front, we are a film production company with a mission to bring high quality and socially responsible film making to the Middle East. Partnering with SF will provide us the experience and key Hollywood connections to achieve this objective faster. We are very excited about this partnership because we know it will be beneficial to all three parties."

Ramez Tomeh, Director of Business Development at Sherezade Management Company said: "This co-operation by CV and DDP highlights the interest of regional media companies to not only leverage the existing Sherezade structure and gain know-how from the western film industry, but to actively get involved in this growing sector by co-producing quality entertainment content. This collaboration will help further build Sherezade Films as a leading film and entertainment company from the Middle-East."
