"He is a good choice for the job and I wish him the very best in his new responsibilities, which the airline is giving him. He has been a very important member of my team for more than 17 years, looking after various aspects of corporate communication," he said.

Simon intends to dedicate his retired life to his love for writing. "I have two more books in the pipeline with a new publisher and I will be travelling to Denmark to complete my research for my forthcoming books," he said.

Commenting on his life after March 31 when he leaves Emirates, Simon said: "We have a home in Dubai and one each in Cyprus and England. So we will be spending time chasing the sun and avoiding the winter."
