Pulse, the new community television channel for Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Knowledge Village, will provide free zone companies, employees and guests with a unique and innovative corporate communication medium.

The dedicated information and news channel, which will transmit in key areas throughout Dubai Internet City, Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai Media City, will serve as a community television service for people working in the Tecom free zones. Playing on a minimum of 60 LCD screens, already supplied by Sharp which is a key sponsor of Pulse, the information and news channel will be shown in lobbies, waiting areas, VIP areas, food courts and restaurants.

"We are pleased to extend this service to our business partners and visitors as it demonstrates our commitment to the ongoing development and enhancement of the free zones services and infrastructure," said Dr Amina Al Rustamani, CEO of Tecom Business Parks.

As well as providing a selection of programmes and news features for the community, channel interaction, whereby viewers are encouraged to influence and help create material for Pulse, will also be part of the service.

Saeed Al Naji, Managing Partner of Media Workshop, the company credited for the development of the concept and responsible for operating Pulse, said he was excited by the project and was keen to emphasise the new channel's community role.

He said: "The majority of the content on Pulse will be sourced and supplied by third parties. Contribution of content by members of the Tecom community is strongly encouraged and will receive priority."

"Media Workshop has been appointed to operate Pulse within the Tecom free zones due to the company's successful track record in the launch and management of the region's first tourist information television channel, Eye On Dubai. Media Workshop will be responsible for all aspects of the channel's operations, including creative development, technical set-up, content sourcing and production, management of transmission schedule, and advertising sales," said Mohamed Al Mulla, Executive Director of Dubai Media City and Executive Director of Tecom Marketing and Corporate Affairs.

The channel, which will transmit 12 hours a day, from 8am to 8pm, will showcase a diverse range of news, information and advice segments, right from the get go, from media partners such as Reuters, Arab Media Group, Metra and Explorer Publishing. Others contributing content include HP, Symantec, The Rights Lawyers, Globaleye, Mefitpro, and Hayya!.

Al-Naji said: "Pulse will feature profiles of companies based in the free zones. Other localised content will include free zones job postings, advise from experts covering various industries and topics, free zones' calendar of events and announcements, but most importantly, communications from Tecom's management targeting business partners, employees and visitors.

"Overall, Pulse will aim to bridge cultures, geographic distances and lateral business units."

"Leading international and regional businesses contributing content were not the only ones quick to support the channel in its pre-launch phase, but technology partners such as du (title sponsor) Ventuz Technology Group, Sharp, HP, and Sony Broadcast did not hesitate to invest in the launch," said Al Naji.
