Royal Bank of Scotland to end sponsorship of Williams F1 team

Royal Bank of Scotland says it will not renew its sponsorship of the Williams Formula One team next year due to the global economic downturn.

The bank, which has been partly nationalised by the British government, said on Wednesday that it will not renew the current three-year deal when it expires at the end of the 2010 season.

RBS began sponsoring Williams in 2005 but says it is now reviewing all its sponsorship activity as part of a strategic review.
