Sharjah TV unveils shows for Ramadan

Sharjah TV, Radio and Sport Channel yesterday unveiled new programmes for Ramadan.

Amna Al Nakhi, General Manager, Sharjah TV & Radio, said the main objective of the programmes is to discuss various aspects of life relevant to Ramadan.

Addressing a press conference, Al Nakhi said the programmes will also elaborate on the role of community institutions and the services they offer.

"We have taken a behind-the-scene look at the theatre world, identified the famous plays and focused on best dramatists. We are also concentrating on youth and highlighting various aspects of sciences.

"We will also attempt to explain the rules of fasting and discuss the meaning and purpose of tradition."

She said: "The Sports Channel will invite fans to our Ramadan tent to appraise them about sport news in general and football in particular. It will also organise contests."

Al Nakhi said: "The main objective of the programmes is to highlight the concept of family and discuss various aspects of life.

"The shows will also discuss the role of education in relation to community and highlight the role of institutions and the services they offer."

Mohammed Khalaf, General Supervisor of Sharjah Radio, said the Sharjah Chanter programme this year will be the fourth edition of the famous and successful programme.

"This year, we will bring to our viewers various melodious voices and different styles of performances, including Gulf, Moroccan, Levant, Iraqi and other styles that are popular the Arab World," he added.

"The radio service has lined up special programmes for Ramadan, including daily live and recorded contests in addition to a drama series in the local dialect and others in formal Arabic language."

During the month, Sharjah TV will also host contests such as Sharjah Chanter Four and recorded contests such as Al Namous. Dawri Al Nojoum and Marmas Al Osra and drama movies will be also part of programmes.

Al Nakhi said: "We will show the dietery customs and concepts prevailing in the Arabs World and also attempt to correct those that do not contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

"Through examples, we will focus our attention on the youth and introduce various aspects of sciences. We will also attempt to define the rules of fasting and explain the meaning and purpose of the tradition."
