The UAE has been ranked number one in the Gulf and 18th worldwide in creative excellence in communication in the 2009 Big Won Report.

The Big Won Report, the online reference for worldwide creative excellence in communication, is an annual analysis of the world’s best international and regional advertising awards, as measured by the quantity and quality of awards won.

Regional executives feature prominently in a top 20 list. Komal Bedi Sohal, from JWT Dubai, has been ranked eighth among top art directors in the world.

Bechara Mouzannar, Regional Executive Creative Director, Leo Burnett, Mena, in charge of the Beirut agency, has been recognised as the 29th best executive creative director worldwide.

Rana Najjar, the agency’s Arabic copywriter, occupies the 21st place, while Yasmina Baz ranks 37th among best art director, and is the only art director from the region to make the list.

Leo Burnett Beirut has been ranked 38 among top agencies of the world.

The agency, which created 2009’s award-winning campaign “Khede Kasra” for Hariri Foundation, was named the Top Media campaign worldwide for its effective, innovative and extensive media outreach.

It has also been ranked 14th worldwide in the best campaign list.

“Through these campaigns, we were able to observe and integrate genuine human behaviour and to change the way people think and feel,” said Mouzannar.
