World-class facilities offer fertile ground for budding film industry in the region

Film production facilities and the technology available in the region is of world-class standards and is helping to develop a fertile ground for the future film industry in the region, says movie director Eguenio Cappuccio during his recent visit to the SAE Institute in Knowledge Village.

The SAE Institute hosted renowned Cappuccio in an exclusive session themed on feature films, highlighting the potential impact of new technologies and production techniques on the cinema industry.

During his first visit to Dubai, Cappuccio interacted with the graduate students of SAE Institute at Dubai Knowledge Village, and shared his rich experiences in filmmaking and as winner of one of the most prized awards in the movie business.

The event was part of SAE's objective to host a series of master classes and workshops on screenplay and direction. Led by Cappuccio, the sessions will be part of the Autumn academic calendar at SAE Dubai, Kuwait, and Amman.

Cappuccio said: "SAE's world-class technical facilities are a true digital playground for creative minds and young talent. I have no doubt we will witness increasingly brilliant projects and inspiring audiovisuals originating from students of this institute.

"With the region's rapid growth, I am certain a new generation of local and international filmmakers will arise out of Dubai, justifying SAE's timely presence in one of the world's most dynamic markets. I look forward to hosting the sessions in the region in partnership with SAE, and reiterating Dubai's status as an emerging hub for the film industry."

Cappuccio's body of works has received several national and international awards. His outstanding feature film Il Caricatore bagged the Padri di Domani, Festival of Bellaria, and the Holden Award. His film Uno su Due (One Out of Two), which he scripted and directed, won a special award at the Roma Film Festival 2007.

He has worked extensively with the Italian Maestro Federico Fellini, who directed famous works such as La Strada, winning an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, and La Dolce Vita, winning an Oscar for Best Costume.

The SAE Institute frequently invites renowned industry leaders to draw upon their expertise for the benefit of its students at the Knowledge Village campus.
