No decision yet on stake-sale size: Omantel

Oman Telecommunications Co (Omantel) said on Thursday the government of the Gulf state, the firm's biggest shareholder, was yet to decide the size of the stake it planned to sell to a long-term investor.

The government, which owns 70 per cent of Omantel, is considering selling between 20-30 percentage points of its stake, Darwish al-Balushi, secretary-general of the Ministry of Finance, told Reuters on Tuesday.

Omantel "would like to confirm after consulting ... the Secretary General of Ministry of Finance that the percentage mentioned in the news is not accurate as no decision has yet been taken by the government to specify the percentage of share to be sold," the company said in a statement on the Omani bourse Web site.
