Customised training courses available to boost agents' skills

The Real Estate Regulatory Agency (Rera) can custom-design a real estate training course for agents in a broker firm, said a real estate agent.

"If we want to do a training course for our staff, Rera will custom-design a real estate training course suitable for us," said Billy Rautenbach, Managing Director, The Property Store.

Speaking to Emirates Business, Rautenbach outlined the various real estate training programmes that are approved by Rera and their fees.

She said among the various real estate courses available by Rera, only the Real Estate Certified Practitioners Training programmes (Phase I and Phase II) were compulsory programmes outlined by Rera.

According to Rautenbach, this course will cost Dh2,500 per course (Phase I and Phase II), adding that all the real estate training courses are approved by Rera and are offered and delivered by the Dubai Real Estate Institute (Drei).

"All agents will have to complete the Real Estate Certified Practitioners Training (Phase 1) at a cost of Dh2,500 per course. After April 2010, they have added additional training material. When they first introduced this programme, it was quite basic. However, the second phase of the practitioners programme includes new elements such as the Owners' Association and up-to-date legal laws," said Rautenbach.

She said another course by Rera, which is the 'Certified Diploma in Real Estate course', will cost around Dh10,000 per course.

"This course is intended to improve the skills and real estate knowledge of agents." Rautenbach said: "The Owners' Association Management Training course will cost Dh3,000 per course, while the Mollak Training course for up to three people is around Dh7,050. The 'Best Practices in Real Estate Sales and Leasing' course is around Dh500 per course. The 'Best Practices in Real Estate Financing' course is around Dh500.

"The Best Practices in Real Estate Communication and Negotitation course is around Dh500.

"Further, the Best Practices in Roadmap to Customer Advocacy is around Dh500."

She said there were some interesting courses outlined by Rera recently such as the course on negotiation skills, which tackle some important issues for the current market situation.
