Space in Nakheel Tower, billed as the world's tallest at more than a kilometre in height, will go on sale next year for more than $3,500 (Dh12,845) per square foot, the chief executive officer of developer Nakheel said yesterday.
"We have been selling Trump Tower at Dh12,500 per square foot. Given the iconic nature of our new tower, we will surpass that number. Our expectations are high," Chris O'Donnell told Emirates Business.
Nakheel Tower, which will be located at the intersection of Sheikh Zayed Road and the Arabian Canal, is part of the Nakheel Harbour and Tower development that will cover more than 270 hectares in New Dubai. It will be home to more than 55,000 people, a workplace for 45,000 more and attract millions of visitors each year, O'Donnell said.
"With Islamic influences governing its design, Nakheel Tower will be able to reach its height of more than a kilometre. This inspired approach has enabled us to achieve a number of amazing feats of engineering. For example, the tower will be the world's tallest concrete structure," said Dubai World Chairman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem. "There is nothing like it in Dubai."
Apart from Nakheel Tower, there will be 40 towers ranging in height from 20 to 90 storeys. The overall development will take more than 10 years to complete and will be released for sale in phases.
