DGJG earns Sheikh Ahmed's patronage

Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG), the independent trade association representing Dubai's jewellery trade, has now been granted a "honorary patronage" of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Chairman of Emirates Group.

Commenting on the development, Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director of DGJG said: "Our group was formed with the intention of supporting government led initiatives such as Dubai Shopping Festival and raise Dubai's profile as the regional hub of gold and jewellery trade. Over the years we have worked very closely with the government so being granted this kind patronage is a natural step."

Laila Suhail, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Shopping Festival, who is also on Board of Directors of the DGJG, said: "We welcome this development which will foster better understanding and co-operation between the trade and the government. DGJG's promotions have contributed to the success of DSF and DSS in keeping Dubai's jewellery retail sector vibrant, in addition to enhancing Dubai's reputation as the 'City of Gold' among tourists and visitors."

Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group was formed in 1996 with the support of the Dubai's Department of Economic Development.
