Etisalat internet service disrupted in the UAE

Etisalat announced that the international submarine cable provided by Sea-ME-We 4, in the Mediterranean Sea connecting Alexandria and Marseilles, has had a unexpected breakdown affecting the internet traffic in the UAE. 

The telecom giant said in a statement released on Thursday repairs are being undertaken by the owner of the cable, the Sea-ME-We 4, other partners and concerned operators.  

Although the telecom operator has already taken “immediate corrective steps” to reduce the impact on business customers, internet traffic in the UAE is likely to be disrupted this weekend.

Traffic is being re-routed to ensure the earliest restoration of the cable, claimed the operator.
