Etisalat yesterday announced the launch of iPhone 3G in the UAE, while it will be launched in Saudi Arabia today.
iPhone 3G combines all the revolutionary features of iPhone plus 3G networking, which is twice as fast (e-mail attachments and web pages load twice as fast on 3G networks as on 2G edge networks), is built-in GPS for expanded location-based mobile services, comprises iPhone 2.2 software that includes support for Microsoft Exchange Active Sync and runs thousands of third-party applications available through the Apple App Store.
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the phone will be launched by Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily).
“iPhone is a perfect blend of advanced functionality and high performance and we are delighted to be one of the first operators in the region to offer this to our customers on the nation’s most advanced high speed network,” said Essa Al Haddad, etisalat Chief Marketing Officer. “iPhone 3G is an amazing mobile device and we are sure that our customers are going to enjoy using iPhone 3G to make calls, send e-mails and surf the web even faster,” Al Haddad said.
Etisalat’s powerful 3G mobile broadband network offers 3G mobile phones download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and upload speed of 1.9 Mbps. Etisalat’s 3G network covers 99 per cent of populated areas in the UAE.
iPhone 3G will be available in the UAE from today in etisalat’s outlets and other select retail venues.
Etisalat will offer the device with various service packages for both the 8GB model as well as the 16GB model.
Etisalat will also sell iPhone 3G through its direct business sales teams.
