LG Electronics, global leader in consumer electronics, home appliances and mobile communications, is now looking at being a complete solution provider with the launch of its new initiative, LG Solution City.
LG Solution City is aimed at providing an energy-efficient lifestyle to users. Comprising four main elements – LG Sol-Mate Smart Building Solution, Smart HomNet Solution, Smart Hotel Solution and Smart Plasma Lighting Solution – it is a next-generation initiative for users.
HS Paik, President of LG Electronics, said: "It's no more about the hardware but a total solution, especially in the Dubai market. Consumers want a ubiquitous connectivity as it's all about convergence today. It will also focus on green energy and eco-friendly solutions."
According to Paik, LG is very conscious about saving energy, which is part of its corporate strategy. "Sixty per cent of energy waste is created by buildings and with our solutions we can cut down 30 per cent of the electricity bill with a combination of commercial airconditioning and smart-building systems. This means 20 per cent of the energy of a whole city is saved."
LG's HomNet Solutions will be installed in some of the most prestigious properties coming up across the UAE, including U-Bora Tower Bay, Santeville Business Bay, Al Naseem Tower, Smart City, Soccer Tower, Lilac Towers and others.
KW Kim, CEO of LG Electronics Middle East and Africa, said the launch of Solution City builds on the success of its HomNet Division launched last year because of the booming construction industry in the region.
"Since we launched HomNet, we have achieved $60 million [Dh220m] in orders from the real estate sector in the Middle East and Africa alone – a fact that mirrors the region's growing understanding and appreciation of smart-home technology. We have equipped more than 10,000 homes in the region with our solutions and have made a huge difference to our customers' lives," Kim said. "Now, however, we see a wider implementation of our smart solutions across a larger market – chiefly the hospitality industry, lighting and buildings."
