The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has closed the process of receiving submissions for acquiring a licence to broadcast mobile TV services in the UAE on December 31, 2008.
The process of the licensing started with the TRA holding a public consultation in June.
The new mobile TV service is provided through a different technology other than the 3G streaming already available, and will offer a wider selection of channels at better quality.
The TRA invited interested people and companies to submit bids for the mobile TV licence.
Mohamed Al Ghanim, Director-General of TRA, said: "The TRA will evaluate the bids and announce the outcome before the end of next March."
