UAE gets Collect Call service

A new service allowing phone users to reverse charges and get in touch with family and friends has been launched by etisalat in the UAE.

The Collect Call service enables callers to make direct voice contact with etisalat customers anywhere in UAE, without being charged for the call. Instead, the charges are paid by the call recipient.

The service could be vital in an emergency or if the user has run out of talk time or wishes to call from a blocked fixed-line phone. All Etisalat customers are eligible for this service without extra charge, subscription process or fee. Collect Call can be used with any mobile device.

Users can call only from mobile phones in the etisalat network but customers can call from any phone in the network – mobile devices, fixed lines or payphones.

"The Collect Call service is one of etisalat's many innovative firsts and introduces a new communication channel for customers under any circumstance where the receiver of the call is willing to pay for it," said Khalifa Al Shamsi, eitsalat's Senior Vice-President, Consumer Marketing.

"The service can come in particularly handy if the customer has low credit or has lost his mobile phone. It provides friends, families and colleagues with a convenient way to get in touch with each other," he added.
