Saudi Arabia's Elaf Group of Companies plans to implement a tourism development strategy across business, leisure and religious tourism markets to boost domestic tourism revenue to about SR73.3 billion (Dh72bn) by 2010, the company said.

Elaf, a subsidiary of Saudi Economic and Development Company, said the new strategy will complement government's plans to diversify and develop tourism.

Ziyad Ahmed bin Mahfouz, President of Elaf Group, said; "Saudi Arabia's tourism industry is rapidly evolving, especially as it is experiencing stronger government support and a consistent flow of substantial investments. Elaf is gearing up for a new wave of religious tourism, with people from across the world expected to perform the Hajj and Umrah rites."

"We plan to manage new projects and increase our external partners and boost the number of external representatives and offices," he said.
