Cruise ship Costa Deliziosa will be named in Dubai on February 23 in an event organised by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and European cruise company, Costa Crociere.
This will be the first major milestone for the emirate's new cruise terminal, which opens on January 18 and is expected to receive 195 ships by 2015.
The naming ceremony will take place during the ship's inaugural cruise, departing from Savona, Italy on February 5 and docking in Dubai between February 23 and 26.
Costa Deliziosa, the 15th ship in Costa's fleet, will be the first cruise ship to be named in an Arab city. Over 3,000 guests are expected to attend the event, including nearly 2,000 Costa guests.
Fabrizia Greppi, Costa Cruises Vice-President for Corporate Marketing and Communications, said: "The naming ceremony in Dubai confirms our spirit in setting records and strengthens the partnership between Costa Cruises and Dubai. We are working together with DTCM to create an unforgettable event."
