Sofitel’s Arroyo property also known as the Bencich Tower easily ranks in the top 10 of this 126 luxury hotel chain. It truly is a structural delight. Located in Buenos Aires’ glamorous Art District, the hotel lies in a 90-year-old structure that was restored in 2000 to preserve the building’s neoclassical heritage.

The lobby, a union of the three structures that join to make this hotel, resembles a lovely gazebo with six huge ficus trees on both, each four metres high. Its Boticcino and San Gabriel marble floor serves as a fitting response to the 600kg bespoke chandelier it reflects.

Room décor for the entire hotel is Sofitel’s signature Art Deco style and they have paid much attention to the smaller details, such as equipping their Boticcino marble bathrooms with Roger and Gallet amenities.

While the hotel’s three dining offerings Le Sud; Café Arroyo and La Bibliotheque all possess great charm and delectable food, the connecting lobby grabs all the attention.

In this 144-room property that comprises 26 suites, two penthouses and the uber-luxurious 1,400sq ft L‘Appartement, it is the latter that possesses the power to entice you onto a 14-hour flight, simply to enjoy its elegance. Located on the 17th floor, the apartment suite sings with antiques from San Telmo markets, lavish toile de Jouy fabrics and comprises a living area, two dining rooms and a fully equipped kitchen. This is top-end luxury at its cultural best.

Business travellers will enjoy the hotel’s meeting rooms, Saint Exupery and Mermoz. Both can be configured to accommodate up to 180 guests each, while the smaller Guillaumet and Daurat take up to 30 people each. The rooms were named after French Pilots from the historic aviation company, Compagnie General Aeropostale.

As usual, the property is well located. Surrounding its expanse are Recoleta’s high-end boutiques, the Patio Bullrich Shopping Center and Paseo de la Recova, the keeper of all good restaurants.
